Best Ice Cream in Zürich (2023 Edition)

Gelato holds a special place in my heart as one of my favorite desserts or snacks, especially during the summer. It's no secret that I can easily indulge in an ice cream treat every day. 🙈 With that in mind, I decided it was about time to compile a list of my preferred gelato pit stops in Zürich. Let me tell you, it was no easy task to arrange them in order of preference, but Gelateria Oro managed to win me over this year and rightfully claims the number one spot. That being said, all of these gelaterias are equally delightful in their own way.

Gelateria di Berna offers a flavor that I absolutely adore, the Mare di Berna, also known as Nutella. Sometimes, I wake up with an intense craving for this particular flavor, and Gelateria di Berna never fails to satisfy it. On the other hand, Gelati 1998 is known for their constant innovation and introduction of fresh flavors. What's more, they graciously allow you to "try" a new flavor for free on top of the one you've chosen, which adds an extra layer of excitement to the experience.

Rest assured, no matter which gelateria you choose from this list, you're in for a delectable treat that will leave your taste buds longing for more.

Gelateria Oro

My new favorite ice cream in Zürich - Gelateria Oro might not be as famous as other places but their ice cream is incredible. The creaminess of it and the flavours make me want to come back on a daily basis.

Favourite Thing Here: Try Nero Sicilia or Pino Pinguino for some Pistachio love. Nocciutella for the Nutella / Chocolate lovers

Gelati 1998

Gelati have delicious flavours and always let you try one (as a tiny flavour on top). They have multiple locations around Zürich and you can even find their cart “Gelati am See” by the lake in China Garten on warm spring/summer days.

Favourite Thing Here: The dark chocolate sorbet is delicious

Tellstrasse 20, 8004 Zürich

Eisladen Zürich

Eisladen has a super cool vibe, music and art as well as great ice cream. A must visit for creamy gelato and a good time. This year you can also find their “Eisladen im Eiswagen” in front of the Polibar from April to October.

Gelateria di Berna

Gelateria di Berna also has absolutely delicious ice cream and a lot of sorbet/vegan flavours. Their locations are unbeatable (especially the one in Weststrasse and the one in Frau Gerold’s) and the line in the summer time speaks for itself.

Rosso Arancio

Another definite must try is Rosso Arancio, their ice cream is super creamy and they also have daily specials. The great thing here is most of the time you won’t be waiting in line to get a delicious ice cream.

Hasta Ice Cream

Hasta Ice Cream has delicious artisanal ice cream and they are especially strong when it comes to the fruity flavours. They have a lot of vegan sorbets which taste absolutely amazing.
