Guarda Val - Sporz

Guarda Val is a place where you come to feel alive while at the same time regenerating your body and soul. Sporz and the entire Lenzerheide region is filled with endless activities: from skiing to snowshoeing, tobogganing, sledging, mountain biking and hiking. After a full day of activities Guarda Val is there to spoil you with its amazing SPA, delicious restaurants and cozy atmosphere.

Location

Guarda Val is located in Sporz, a ten minute walk from the town of Lenzerheide in the canton of Graubünden (1:30 from Zürich by car/ 2:15 by train). The Arosa Lenzerheide region offers over 200km of slopes and is in our opinion one of the best ski resorts in Switzerland. The entire area is magical and it’s very hard to say whether it’s more beautiful in the warmer seasons with the endless hiking routes, amazing views and fun mountain bike paths or in the winter time, with the snow and the endless snow activities.

Some of our favorite activities (besides skiing and snow shoeing) included cross-country skiing - Lenzerheide has over 56km of cross-country slopes, ice skating and, of course, sledging.

Some fun things to do if you are not into snow or sporty activities are visiting the famous Landwasser Viadukt or doing a fun Toboggan Ride (great for kids too).

There is really something for everyone in Lenzerheide and you will surely never get bored!

Style & Decor

Guarda Val has a very unique style and decor as it is not like most resorts, it’s a new kind of Alpine Luxury. The Hotel is made up of Maiensässe, which “means small settlements of cozy huts and basic stable barns”. The Guarda Val Maiensässe are definitely not basic but the hotel extends into different chalets and they are one more cozy than the other. This gives you a sense that the hotel itself is a small Alpine Village when you walk from your room to the bar or from the restaurant to the SPA. Everything is spotless and you could call the decoration “Modern Swiss”.

Every room is different, which makes the Guarda Val even more special and makes you want to return time and time again to discover new angles you haven’t yet discovered.

Food and Drink

Let’s talk about our favorite thing - food! The Guarda Val has two restaurants - The Gourmet Restaurant and the Crap Naros. The Gourmet Restaurant is located in a 300-year-old former cow byre full of dark wood which makes it absolutely charming, oh and it has one Michelin star! The setting is incredible but the food is the star of the show - local ingredients made with love, an explosion of tastes in your mouth. We recommend you try one of their set menus along with a wine pairing to get the full experience but there is also a la carte.

The Crap Naros is equally delicious but more “family style”, here you can try a local specialty like Capons or treat yourself to a Cordon Bleu, a Fondue or a selection of salads, cold cuts, risottos and pastas. Crap Naros is also all about local ingredients and you really won’t be disappointed.

At lunch, the terrace of the Gourmet Restaurant offers a variety of meals including salads, a delicious Club Sandwich, pasta and cold cuts. Here you can enjoy your lunch with an amazing view over the mountains and the valley.

Service and Facilities

The service at Guarda Val is impeccable, from the moment you arrive you are greeted by friendly faces who are ready to answer all of your questions and make your stay a little bit sweeter. The reception is open 24/7 and you can always call them up if you need something.

Apart from the usual facilities, Guarda Val also has:

SPA - two Saunas, two outdoor jacuzzis, hay beds you can relax on. They also offer numerous massages and you can even book a bath in whey.

Gym - the gym is really fully equipped and you can go in to do your workout or relax with a yoga session overlooking the mountains.

Activities - activities are offered by the Hotel which you can sign up for such as Snow Shoeing, Star Gazing with an expert etc.
