Hofläden around Zürich
I love buying products directly from the farm and around two years ago I started to really look for where the best Hofläden (Farm Shops) around Zürich were and exploring the different options.
Buying in a Hofladen is definitely not the same as going to a supermarket and you might not be able to do it on a weekly basis, but it’s always nice to get out from time to time, see something new and buy local and seasonal products straight from the people who have farmed them.
Jucker Farm is one of the most popular Hofladen in the Zürich area but the options are endless - some farms only have a little vending machine where they sell cheese, milk and eggs while others have an actual store and sometimes even a restaurant and activities for old and young. Of course, some of these Hofläden or Farm Shops are not always open and it’s always best to check the opening times on their website.
We have picked out what we think are the best or more special Hofläden around the Zürich area which are worth visiting, you will find a little 🥕 next to our favourites. Most of these farms offer seasonal vegetables and fruits along with milk and milk products and sometimes meat and bread.
We definitely recommend you visit at least one of these Farms and Hofläden not only to buy straight from the source but also because it’s extremely interesting to see all the things that are being produced and the care that is being put into the production. You can combine the visit with a nice walk or lunch or a family day trip.
Jucker Farm - Seegräben 🥕
What you can find: Jucker Farm is the biggest Hofladen in the Zürich region. They have all kinds of products from pumpkins, apples, asparagus all kinds of vegetables to frozen foods and meat.
Activities: A great place to come with friends or your family. You can pick your own apples, cherries, play with the goats and admire the beautiful pumpkin art during the autumn months. They also have a delicious buffet where you can have brunch.

Hofladen Gehrenhof - Aesch
What you can find: Pumpkins, Eggs, Natura Beef, Jam, different kinds of grains and flowers to pluck yourself

What you can find: Milk, Apples, Pears and a lot of flowers
Activities: At Hofladen Liebensberg you can take classes in flower arrangements which are quite fun

What you can find: Specialized in meat but you can also find eggs and other products. They also have a fun milk “gas station” open all day long.
Activities: You can pick and buy your Christmas tree here! It’s also a great place for kids and they offer something called School on the Farm where kids learn about what happens on a farm and how to live with nature

What you can find: We love this place! You can find various seasonal products like apples, pears but also meat, spätzle, honey and much more.
Activities: The Schlattgut is also a restaurant and we recommend you come here for a day trip, have lunch and buy your groceries at the Hofladen.
